Lately I have been thinking alot about Elder Holland's talk entitled "Lord, I Believe" during general conference this past month. No matter what stage we are at in our life this talk can apply to you! His whole talk is centered on FAITH. There are many things that touched my heart during his talk and would advise everyone to listen and or read it.
Sometimes is it really hard to understand what faith is and why we need to have faith, but if we were given everything in life we wouldn't appreciate the hard work it took to gain our true understanding. Sometimes faith is just a hope for something to be true and as you continue to read your scriptures and act on things you fell would bring you closer to your Savior, that desire of believing will begin to turn into an understanding and then to a sure knowledge. I love how it states it is Alma 32:27 ...
" But
behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an
experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if
ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words."
Elder Holland stated...
"The size of your faith or the degree of your knowledge is not the
issue—it is the integrity you demonstrate toward the faith you do have
and the truth you already know."
It is important that we hold true to what we already have been given as sure knowledge and it is important that we do not start our quest for faith by saying how much you do not
have, because that will get us no where.
I will end with Elder Hollands testimony which was so touching!
"What was once a tiny seed of belief for me has grown into the tree of
life, so if your faith is a little tested in this or any season, I
invite you to lean on mine. I know this work is God’s very truth, and I
know that only at our peril would we allow doubt or devils to sway us
from its path. Hope on. Journey on. Honestly acknowledge your questions
and your concerns, but first and forever fan the flame of your faith,
because all things are possible to them that believe."
I know that as we increase our faith and act on that faith, God sees that and will bless us for our desire to become more like him and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's church that has been restored to the earth again in its fullness. Everyone can find this out for themselves if they even just have a desire to believe.
